Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was spotted using a range finder 90 minutes before the former President Trump’s Pennsylvania rally. Crooks was sitting at a picnic table 50 yards from the rally’s exit. He was on the move 45 minutes later and positioned himself near the American Glass International (AGR) building. He would later perch himself on top of the AGR building and open fire on the crowd. Trump was grazed on his ear by a bullet.

Law enforcement officers monitoring former President Trump’s Pennsylvania rally identified the would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, as suspicious 90 minutes before he opened fire.

Officers noticed Crooks using a range finder but did not approach him, as revealed in text messages obtained by Fox News Digital.

A group chat among Beaver ESU officers showed that Crooks parked near their vehicles and was later seen sitting at a picnic table near the rally’s exit.

Crooks then moved to position himself near the American Glass International building where he later targeted the former president.

An officer took a picture of Crooks leaning against the AGR building with his distinctive greasy hair and gray T-shirt, alerting others to notify Secret Service snipers to be on the lookout.

Authorities were aware of the suspicious individual, Crooks, close to 90 minutes before the shooting took place, updating the previously known time of about 60 minutes.

Approximately one hour after the last text message was sent, Crooks was shot and killed by a counter-sniper after opening fire on rally attendees, injuring Trump and three others.
