Boeing Whistleblower John Barnett’s Suicide Note Revealed
Boeing whistleblower John Barnett’s suicide note has reportedly been revealed, however some social media users aren’t buying it.
The New York Post reported that moments before taking his own life with a gunshot to the left temple, Barnett sat in the front seat of his orange Dodge Ram truck and scribbled his final thoughts into a notebook.
“I can’t do this any longer! Enough!” he declared. “F— Boeing.” “America.”
“Come together or die!! I pray the motherf—that destroyed my life pay!!! I pray Boeing pays!!! Bury me face down so Boeing and their lying-ass leaders can kiss my a**,” he added, according to a suicide note obtained by the Post.
“To my family and friends, I found my purpose,” he continued. “I’m at peace. I love you more.”
Authorities confirmed the handwriting as Barnett’s, adding that his fingerprints were the only ones found in the notebook.
“I Call Bulls***,” wrote one user, “Looks like a first grader wrote this s***…”
Another replied, “worlds fakest suicide note.”
Barnett, a former quality control engineer, dedicated over three decades to Boeing before his retirement in 2017.
He persistently raised numerous safety complaints to his supervisors throughout his career, particularly during his time at the Charleston plant.
Barnett reportedly stated that his concerns were ignored, and his bosses retaliated by relegating him to a largely administrative role.
He told BBC in 2019 that Boeing compromised safety by rushing to get its 787 Dreamliner jets off the production line and into service.
Boeing has faced increased scrutiny due to various issues with its planes and over Barnett’s mysterious death.
Suspicion over a possible Boeing cover-up scheme sparked again after a second whistleblower died suddenly recently.
Joshua Dean, a quality auditor at Spirit AeroSystems, claimed he got fired for challenging standards at the company’s manufacturing plant in Wichita, Kansas.
Spirit notably manufactured the door plug that blew out midair on an Alaska Airlines flight in January, Resist the Mainstream reported.
“I think they were sending out a message to anybody else. If you are too loud, we will silence you,” Dean told NPR about his firing earlier this year.
Dean’s eventual death was confirmed by his aunt in a series of social media posts and public statements, where she said his cause of death was from sudden illness.
The aviation giant has also been in hot water for concerning behaviors within the company that could be a reason for the uptick in recent safety issues and controversies.
The American Prospect reported that under former CEO Jim McNerney, who led the company from 2005 to 2015, Boeing was directed to adopt a new approach to “knowledge,” prioritizing intellectual property and trade secrets over the expertise and experience of its workforce.
The report noted that McNerney decided to outsource a significant portion of the 787 Dreamliner’s development and engineering to suppliers, many of whom lacked sufficient expertise.
The decision aimed to reduce costs and weaken unions associated with the company, however, it led to cost overruns and delays totaling billions of dollars.
One such outsourcing debacle involved a supplier subcontracting part of the 787 fuselage design to an Israeli firm that “botched the job.”
Boeing eventually had to intervene due to financial difficulties.
