MUSINGS FOR OCTOBER 2023

Concerned that I had nothing to “muse” about for October, my colleague-in-thought, George Larson, solved my problem when he sent what arrived on September 30th. The multitudes of Protestant Christians are probably more confused on this subject than any other because of the deception preachers learned in seminary and still teach from the pulpits.

THE KHAZAR HYPOTHESIS

A Short Introduction

by Dr. George Larson

Sometime around 1960, during either my junior or senior year at the University of Oregon, I took a one-year course in Russian history. It was taught by Professor Gus Alef, a dynamic lecturer who kept his students spellbound. From him I first learned of the Khazars, a Eurasion tribe of “Turkish-Mongoles” who once had a large and powerful empire located in what is now southern Russia and the Ukraine. For unknown reasons this tribe converted to Judaism in the mid-8th century and was in conflict with the emerging Russian state centered in Kiev.

In the early 13th century the Mongols flooded this region and remaiined in power there for about three centuries. When a new Russia state finally emerged it was centered in the north. By this time, the Judaized Khazars had simply disappeared — vanished!  But there were large agglomerations of “Eastern Jews” throughout Eastern Europe, principally in Poland.

I asked Professor Alef point blank in the classroom what happened to the Khazars. He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. The correct answer to me then, as it still is now, The “Judaized Khazars” had simply morphed into “Eastern Jews.”  Professor Alef was obviously aware that this was a sensitive issue, and that if he spoke the truth, he might well have wound up driving a taxi for a living.
