‘I’m a pregnant man’: British Glamour mag features pregnant transgender cover model, author of children’s book about ‘The Miracle of Male Birth’
June 02, 2023
A popular British women’s magazine featured a topless woman who identifies as a man on its cover, who referred to herself as a “pregnant man.”
The cover model is author Logan Brown, a woman who was once a lesbian but now identifies as queer, or a “trans pregnant man.” Fox News reports that in the interview with the magazine, Brown described how she suffered from “really bad mental health” issues as a child. Brown later came out as a lesbian, then decided to explore the “identity of being trans,” before finally settling on the identify of queer.
Brown also described that her “accidental” pregnancy came about when she took a break from testosterone treatments due to health reasons. It was during that time that the biological woman was impregnated by her biologically male partner, Bailey Mills, a drag queen who identifies as non-binary.
Glamour magazine reporter Chloe Laws conducted the interview just two weeks before Brown gave birth, describing how the author and her boyfriend first garnered attention online through the “rampant transphobia” of people commenting on Brown’s social media pages that “men can’t get pregnant.”
Brown, who said she is authoring a book directed at children called “My Daddy’s Belly: The Miracle of Male Birth,” told the reporter that she had “been brought up in a very close-knit family, and so to bring a baby into the world in a queer relationship is the best feeling ever.”
The 27-year-old described that when she discovered she was pregnant, it felt like all her “manlihood” that she “worked hard for, for so long, just completely felt like it was erased.”
“How do you tell your partner, ‘Oh, I’m pregnant, but oh, I’m also your boyfriend as well,’” Brown continued. The writer eventually came to accept the process and declared, “I’m a pregnant man, and we’re very lucky, and I’m proud to do what we’re doing.”
Glamour’s European editorial director, Deborah Joseph, reportedly said in a statement that the magazine felt Brown would be a perfect cover model for Pride Month. “When we first met Logan and heard his incredible story, we were blown away by his strength and courage. We knew he would be the perfect cover star for our June Pride issue, as a shining example of empowerment, inclusivity and equality.”
“Logan and his partner Bailey bringing their beautiful baby into the world is a story of love and acceptance;” the editor continued. Joseph also prophetically added that these are “things that we are sadly often reminded that the world could use a little more of.”
