The Nonconformist…
When are we going to follow the Constitution? Did we change it somehow or do we just ignore it?
Like.. Article 1, Section 2.. The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative; and until such enumeration shall be made, the State of New Hampshire shall be entitled to choose three, Massachusetts eight, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations one, Connecticut five, New York six, New Jersey four, Pennsylvania eight, Delaware one, Maryland six, Virginia ten, North Carolina five, South Carolina five and Georgia three.
So, my question? If we are supposed to have one Representative for every thirty thousand people, we would have a lot more Representatives.. Look what could happen..
1. They could stay in an office in their home state and vote by safe computer after reading each of the bills. They might actually know what was going on at home.
2. They would be available for their constituents much more easily, instead of the emails, texts and letters that seldom get read or answered at present.
3. There would be no need for lobbyists in Washington as there would be no one in Washington
Sounds like a great idea to me.
We might even find a way to supply a Republican form of government for each of the states as promised by the Constitution.. that no one ever reads..
Alea, the Nonconformist..
