BECAUSE it shows the lengths to which the fake news will stretch in order to portray a bogus story. Barry Sanders was one of the greatest running backs in the history of NFL. He probably never heard of the old reprobate wearing his same name and would likely never have voted for him if he had.

Country music megastar Garth Brooks donned a “Sanders” jersey during his concert in Detroit, Michigan, on Saturday night.
While the locals did not appear to bat an eye, several folks on social media had strong reactions to his wardrobe selection —mistakenly assuming the icon was declaring his support for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
What are the details?
Brooks posted a picture on Instagram showing his #20 Sanders jersey without explanation.
Several fans immediately accused Brooks of being a “Bernie Bro,” with one writing, “Sanders?? Don’t care about your politics. Love your music. Let’s keep politics and your entertainment separate.” Another wrote, “If that’s a Bernie shirt I just lost a lot of respect for you!”
Another follower replied, “Weird. That a millionaire would like a socialist. Hey Garth are you going to distribute your millions?”
It wasn’t just Sanders critics who reacted to what many assumed was an endorsement of the famous socialist. On Twitter, one user posted Garth’s jersey photo with the message, “Welp. Looks like @garthbrooks just became my favorite country singer! #FeelTheBern2020.”
She added, “And I despise country music.”
Another Sanders supporter tweeted, “Love the Sanders jersey! Feel the Bern!”
But numerous football fans tried to set the record straight, commenting on both social media outlets that Brooks was actually wearing the Sanders jersey in honor of former Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders.
Brooks confirmed that as fact during his show, paying tribute to the retired Pro Football Hall of Famer.
“Can I just tell ya that you guys got the greatest player in NFL history in my opinion,” he told his audience of 70,000 fans.
