FLASH: A CHRISTIAN PASTOR BELIEVES IN THE “BIG BANG” THEORY
but not in the way you might think!
When preaching and teaching about “creation” in Genesis, I have always been quick to discredit the “big bang theory” put forth by the wizards of scientism. However, I have discovered that the Bible actually does support the “big bang” in a New Testament setting regarding the end of time.
2 Peter 3:10 reads: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a (big bang) great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. There you have it! There is going to be a “big bang” in the future when the Lord returns.
Verse 13 says, Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Then we can look at Revelation 21 & 22 for a further explanation of this new heaven and earth. There will be some things missing: the sea and the sun! However, there will be mountains and rivers!
Try to imagine this scenario using the heliocentric model where the earth is an insignificant dot in an ever-expanding universe spinning at 1000 miles an hour while traveling around the Sun at 67,000 miles per hour while hurtling through the Milky Way galaxy at 500,000 per hour etc.
Then imagine how it will work in the geocentric model with the earth being God’s special creation and the Sun being in the firmament with the Moon as part of God’s plan described in Genesis 1.
1 Timothy 6:20: O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.
Elder David Johnson, Milton, Florida
I talk to a lot of ‘believer critics’ that don’t think those scriptural words are literal. They change everything to suit what it is they believe. It’s sad that Father didn’t know how to say what He meant or meant what He said. If only we could of gave Him some English lessons.
Trust in the Sovereignty of God and His Promises to take care of His Word and pass it down to us in our own language.
