Dear Mr. Fox and Ms. Rhodes,
The Grand Jury is now considering misconduct by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in relation to events at the Los Angeles County Jail. The conduct of former Sheriff Baca and former Deputy Sheriff Tanaka are being probed, according to sources for the Los Angeles Times. Sadly, the corrupt atmosphere in the LASD is not confined just to incidents relating to the County Jail but is widespread. The LASD has been consistently fabricating evidence in criminal cases. This charge is based on profound new evidence uncovered in my husband’s criminal case; this new evidence has been conceded by the Attorney General.
Specifically, my husband, William French Anderson, formerly a Professor at the University of Southern California School of Medicine and known as the “Father of Gene Therapy”, was convicted in 2006 of child abuse, based on a sheriff-instigated sting meeting recording between him and the alleged victim. My husband’s habeas team, led by Doug Otto, has acquired overwhelming evidence of skillful manipulation by Deputy Kurt Ebert that turned a recording that would have proven his innocence into one suggesting guilt. The altered recording was the core of the Prosecution’s case. Attached is the recently filed Federal Habeas that contains a summary of all this evidence (see specifically Grounds 1, 2 &, 5). As mentioned above, the AG has now conceded this evidence.
Deputy Ebert’s skill in editing the digital recording, and in cleverly hiding telltale clues of his edits, proves that he was exceedingly experience in editing recording and had to have been altering multiple recordings over a long period of time. Deputy Ebert in his file Declaration with the Court, essentially conceded his actions. Only with the use of powerful new technology, that only became available 3 years ago, was it possible to obtain absolute proof of how Deputy Ebert edited the sting meeting recording and how he covered up the evidence of his edits.
There is written documentation that Captain Shaun J. Mathers, Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau, along with his deputy, Henry M. Garza, participated in covering up this misconduct. There is circumstantial evidence that Sheriff Baca was aware, and gave tacit approval to the longstanding editing by Deputy Ebert.
Should the presently convened Grand Jury expand its investigation to include this additional evidence of LASD misconduct? Or should a new investigation be initiated into evidence tampering by the LASD?
Yours truly,
Kathryn D. Anderson, MD. FACS. FRCS (Hon.)
