Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was verbally assaulted during her commencement address at Bethun- Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Graduating seniors at the historically black school turned their backs to the education secretary and continually interrupted her remarks with a chorus of boos and curses.
BuzzFeed reports one student told the education secretary to, “shut the f*** up.” I’ve posted video of the entire address. You need to watch it — so you can truly understand the hatred on display.
The verbal assault became so severe that the university’s president interrupted DeVos’ speech and warned students that if “this behavior continues, your degrees will be mailed to you.”
Even that threat was not enough to quell the seething crowd’s raging blood lust.
But Secretary DeVos demonstrated a generous measure of grace in spite of the disgraceful behavior of the Bethune-Cookman students.
“One of the hallmarks of higher education, and of democracy, is the ability to converse with and learn from those with whom we disagree,” she said in a written statement following the commencement ceremony. “I have respect for all those who attended, including those who demonstrated their disagreement with me.”
Could you imagine if President Obama had been jeered and cursed at a predominantly white college? I have no doubt the Mainstream Media and Democrats would’ve been hollering racism.
But I don’t believe what happened at Bethune-Cookman was about race. It was about petulant crybabies, spoiled brats – pitching a hissy fit.
They want to silence any speech they disagree with. It’s a classic tactic of the far-left – shut down opposing points of view.
The behavior of the graduating class brought shame and dishonor upon Bethune-Cookman as well as their mommas and their daddys .They were acting the fool in public – sweet mercy, America.
I’m surprised somebody’s momma didn’t jerk a knot in their tails.
I am so sick of the snowflake cry babies. What are they going to do in the real w0rld when their boss tells them they have to perform their jobs to be able to get a paycheck? Are they going to run to a safe place and request a puppy to hug? I cannot believe that parents are spending the enormous amount of college tuition to have their kids come out more childish then when they went in.
